Three Suspects Arrested After Santa Clarita Pursuit Ends In Rollover Crash

Three individuals were arrested on felony charges after leading the California Highway Patrol (CHP) on a brief Santa Clarita pursuit Wednesday.

Around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call for service regarding a grand theft on the 26100 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It was reported equipment was stolen from the back of the victim’s truck bed,” Arriaga said. “The suspects left prior to deputy arrival.”

Deputies conducted a search of the area for the suspects, according to Arriaga.

At the same time that deputies were searching for the suspects, officers with the CHP Newhall Area Office contacted a vehicle for vehicle code violations, according to officials.

“At approximately 9:55 a.m., Newhall Area personnel observed a Dodge Ram pickup truck fail to stop for a red traffic signal and attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of Newhall Ranch Road and Rye Canyon,” said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office. “The driver suddenly fled and a brief pursuit ensued.”

The driver attempted to make a u-turn, resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway down an embankment into a small shopping center and colliding with a building before coming to rest on its side, according to Greengard.

“A deputy conducting a search of the area for the outstanding suspects per our grand theft investigation saw the vehicle CHP was detaining and recognized it from suspects’ vehicle description provided during the grand theft investigation,” Arriaga said.

The three suspects were arrested, according to officials.

Jesus Miron and Juan Aguilar were arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies for grand theft, according to Arriaga.

Didier Valencia was also arrested by CHP officers for felony evading, Greengard said.

Miron and Aguilar were cited out later with a promise to appear in court in four months, according to Arriaga.
