The City of Santa Clarita has increased the frequency of street sweeping throughout all residential areas during the fall and winter seasons, resulting in further street sweeping preparation protocols.
The annual increase of street sweeping comes each fall and winter season as excess leaves and other debris clutter gutters and residential streets, so Santa Clarita homeowners are being asked to do their part in clearing the roadways.
“Residents are asked to remove vehicles and other objects, including portable basketball hoops, from the street during sweeping days before the street sweeper arrives to allow for a thorough operation,” read a statement from the City. “Residents are also encouraged to keep the street clear of lawn clippings and tree trimmings, as sweepers will be unable to remove items like tree branches.”
The street sweeping is expected to take place every week, following trash pickup days, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to the City.
All trash and recycling bins must be removed no later than the evening they are serviced to ensure clear access for street sweeping, according to the City.
Santa Clarita homeowners are also being asked to not pile leaves in the street or in yards as all leafy debris should be placed in a green waste container to prevent excess debris being picked up by street sweepers.
Excess debris can cause damage to the equipment, resulting in delays in the street sweeping schedules, according to the City.
Street sweeping across Santa Clarita is expected to return to its regular monthly schedule starting in Feb. 2022.
