Vehicle Found ‘Dangling’ Off Of 5 Freeway Blocks Santa Clarita Traffic  


A vehicle found dangling off of the 5 Freeway above Golden State Highway north of Santa Clarita temporarily blocked traffic Sunday as responders worked to rescue the passenger who reportedly attempted to drive off the freeway, officials said. 

UPDATE (7:35 p.m.): One patient with unknown injuries has been transported to a local hospital as a result of the incident, according to fire officials.

Around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, emergency responders received reports of a traffic collision on the northbound 5 crossover near the upper crossover just north of in Castaic, according to Ed Pickett, a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. 

“We received reports of someone who was trying to drive over the side of the freeway,” Pickett said. “The vehicle is dangling over the side.”

Expect delays as officials with the California Highway Patrol work to investigate the scene.

Any information regarding the injuries sustained has not been released to the public as of 7 p.m.
