Stevenson Ranch Native Makes US National Volleyball Training Team

Allison Jacobs, born and raised in Stevenson Ranch, has recently been recruited for the U.S. National Volleyball Training Team where she is set to represent the country in the 2021 FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship.

“Putting on a U.S.A. jersey every day to face a new opponent is a feeling I have not yet been able to put words to,” Jacobs said. “There is a sense of pride that comes with seeing my last name paired with that iconic red white and blueprint that makes me want to work harder and be more authentically myself than I ever have before.”

Jacobs began club volleyball at the Legacy Club in Valencia and attended West Ranch High School, playing volleyball for the school’s varsity team.

“I can attribute most of my volleyball success and knowledge to growing up in Stevenson Ranch which allowed me to use the resources of the Legacy Volleyball Club coaching staff to my greatest advantage,” Jacobs said.

After graduating in 2020, Jacobs went on to play at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) as an outside hitter where both her sister and her father attended college.

“Tricia and I are very proud of Allison and her desire to work hard and play at the highest level she can find,” said Allison’s father Brian. “Like all parents we love seeing her happy and she is often the happiest when she is playing volleyball.  Certainly, there is another level of pride when you see your daughter wearing a U.S.A. jersey and representing our country, especially for a patriotic family like ours.”

Being only a sophomore at UCLA, Jacobs has already led an impressive volleyball career and is ambitious for the future.

“My plans for the future are open to change, but full of ambition. Since I was able to run I have always wanted to be an Olympian and every time I put on that U.S.A. jersey that dream just gets bigger and brighter,” Jacobs said. “I plan on working my hardest to reach my peak potential as a volleyball player.”

The team had undergone a training camp June 28 through July 8 at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where the 12-players for the 2021 FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Kortrijk, Belgium were decided.

The games are currently underway and are set to take place until July 18.
