Hart District Notifies Parents Of Food Service Worker Diagnosed With COVID-19

William S. Hart Union High School District officials sent an email Tuesday evening notifying parents that a food service worker has tested positive for COVID-19.

One of the food service workers participating in meal service on Nov. 23 and 24 at Golden Valley High School has since tested positive for coronavirus, according to the email from the Hart District.

“This person did not return to work on Monday, Nov. 30,” the email reads. “This person will not return to the building until they are released by their healthcare provider and have met CDC and LA County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) guidance and protocols.”

The food service worker is employed by Sodexo, the district’s contracted food service provider. Staff at the school site have been informed and the kitchen facility has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

As part of Sodexo’s health and safety protocols, all staff wear face coverings, gloves, and disposable aprons during meal prep and service.

Based on CDC and LACDPH guidelines, the risk of transmission to the public and other staff is considered low, according to the Hart District.

“To be safe, any students or families who participated in the free meal program at Golden Valley HS on Nov. 23 or 24 should watch for symptoms of COVID-19,” the email said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, food service at other sites across the Hart District have not been impacted.
