One person was arrested after an alleged Stevenson Ranch assault Sunday morning, officials said.
Around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning, emergency responders received reports of an assault with a deadly weapon call in on the 24900 block of Constitution Avenue in Stevenson Ranch, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Upon arrival, deputies learned during a verbal argument between the victim and his girlfriend, the suspect took a kitchen knife and lunged forward at the victim’s torso, according to Arriaga.
“The victim jumped backward, avoiding injury,” Arriaga said. “The suspect continued to point the knife at the victim during the argument.”
While leaving, the suspect followed the victim, leaving the knife behind at the residence, according to investigators.
The suspect managed to run in front of the victim and began physically assaulting him as they continued to argue, Arriaga said.
The victim left the location in his vehicle in order to avoid further conflict.
Teresa Wertz, 56, of Stevenson Ranch, was arrested without incident and booked for assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a spouse, according to Arriaga.
The victim did not sustain any injury and declined medical attention.
Wertz was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in lieu of $50,000 bail.
