Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests During New Years Decrease, Several Vehicles Taken Without Owner’s Consent


Eleven arrests were reported by Santa Clarita law enforcement officials over New Years weekend, marking a decrease from Christmas weekend’s 13 arrests.

Between Friday, Dec. 31 through Sunday, Jan. 2, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office made 11 total arrests, a continued decline from last weekend’s 13 and the previous weekend’s 17, according to booking logs.

Three of the weekend’s reported arrests involved taking vehicles without the owner’s consent, according to arrest logs.

The weekend saw four drug-and-alcohol-related arrests, with three representing DUI charges, one as possession of a controlled substance and all charged as misdemeanors, according to law enforcement officials.

Notable arrests include an assault with a deadly weapon that is not a firearm, theft of personal property and terrorizing causing fear, according to booking logs.

The reported theft of personal property was charged to a transient member of the community, according to law enforcement officials.

Eight of the arrests logged this weekend were of individuals from the Santa Clarita Valley, according to officials.

The remaining three were from addresses in Westlake Village, Los Angeles and a transient, according to booking logs.
