An armed transient was arrested Sunday on multiple felonies after she allegedly brandished a knife and assaulted a Santa Clarita store employee.
On Sunday, deputies responded to the 26400 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus regarding a woman yelling at customers while brandishing a knife, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Upon arrival, deputies observed the suspect walking on Bouquet Canyon Road,” Arriaga said. “As they attempted to detain her, a brief struggle ensued.”
With the help of assisting deputies, they were able to detain the suspect without further incident.
During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect had entered a business and began screaming obscenities inside the location, according to Arriaga.
“As an employee attempted to escort the suspect outside the location by pushing her shopping cart out, she began to physically assault him multiple times,” Arriaga said.
Once the woman was escorted outside, she allegedly retrieved a knife from her shopping cart and brandished it at the victim while yelling obscenities, according to officials.
“The suspect then attempted to push her shopping cart into the locked doors multiple times, until she finally walked away,” Arriaga said.
Laure Daltry, 70, a transient, was arrested for felony resisting an officer, misdemeanor battery and brandishing a weapon, Arriaga added.
Daultry was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station with bail set at $25,000, according to arrest logs.
