What Are The Best Foods To Make For Watching The Game?

In a nutshell, party foods are what you are going to want to go for. As this is a gathering of friends, which is essentially a party, you are going to want dishes that are easy to eat while not paying attention, and have a more festive vibe to them.

Much like how you probably wouldn’t sip a bottle of fancy champagne while just having a casual game on PlayCroco online casino, you don’t want to make anything too fancy for just watching the game with your friends.

First of all, the amount of effort you would be putting in is not worth it for the return. The focus of this kind of event is you, your friends, and the game itself. There is simply no need to make an elaborate, fancy, over the top meal if that’s not what people are going to be focusing on.

You want foods that are fun to eat, but also easy to eat. Foods that are delicious, but not distracting. You want foods that people can just pick up and eat without having to pay attention, cut something up, or otherwise mess around with their food.

Snacks

I’m going to start with the most simple group of foods and that is just snacks. These are going to be the bread and butter of your food lineup. You want people to constantly have things to get into and munch on.

So, what snacks should you choose? The first obvious choice is popcorn. Popcorn is voluminous, easy to make, and easy to eat. This basically makes it one of the best foods to make as a game time snack food.

First of all, it is voluminous as I said. This means there will be a large amount of food from a relatively small amount of kernels. The popcorn pops up, so it will be mostly air.

This kind of artificially slows down how fast people eat, as they are eating a food that’s volume is mostly air. This allows for you to have made a small amount of food by weight very easily, and not have to worry about it getting eaten super quickly.

Another great option is chips and some sort of dip. What chip you chose is going to be rather important! I’m being a bit joke-y, but it will matter somewhat.

Chips with ruffles or ridges are a great option in my opinion, as they are more structurally stable than regular potato chips. This means there is a less likely chance of some getting annoyed by chips breaking off into the dip, or breaking and dropping onto your floor or furniture.

Corn chips are great too! They are thicker and more robust than potato chips, so they will also be less likely to break and either make a mess or just annoy someone as their chips keep breaking off into the dip.

Flavored chips can be enjoyable for a lot of people too, but it is important to make sure you have some sort of unflavored or classic flavored chips. Not everybody wants flavored chips, especially with dip, so getting some regular potato or corn chips is a must.

If you and your friends are more health conscious, there are still a lot of great snack options for you too! Popcorn, believe it or not, is actually pretty healthy for you if you make it at home with a healthy oil.

As popcorn has a lot of air in it, you are actually eating a lot less than you may think. In addition, popcorn has a lot of fiber which is missing from many modern people’s diets.

If you want something even healthier, you could go for some fruits or vegetables that are easy to eat with your hands. Apple wedges, grapes, broccoli, and carrot sticks are some great options that come to mind.

Or, you could also put out different kinds of nuts! These are a great option as they are loaded with protein, and are quite healthy for you.

Some great nut options that come to mind are peanuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, and any other kind of nuts that you enjoy eating. Just put them out in a bowl and enjoy!

Just remember, you may need to put out some bins to spit into if you put out sunflower seeds. You certainly don’t want the shells to get all over your floor!

Sunflower seeds are just a great option though. The fact you have to take the hulls off before you eat them slows down how much and how fast you can eat. This can be a great option for people who are worried about overeating while paying attention to other things.

There is also something so relaxing or focusing about deshelling and eating sunflower seeds. I suppose it’s like fidgeting that relieves nervous energy or restlessness, but either way, I think it’s a great option.

Drinks

Drinks are an essential part of any get together. People are always going to want to be sipping on something, especially if they have been eating a bunch of salty snack foods all day with you and your friends.

Just an obligatory statement before I continue, if you are not of the legal drinking age, don’t put out alcoholic beverages for you and your friends to drink! It’s not worth the harm you could do to yourselves, and if somehow you are caught, it could be very bad for you or your parents.

There are plenty of great drink options that don’t include alcohol, so you really shouldn’t feel like you have to drink something alcoholic. If you want more “sophisticated” drinks or something like beer, then there are non alcoholic options.

If you and your friends want something beer-like then you could buy a non alcoholic malt drink. It won’t be exactly the same, but it just might scratch that itch.

Alternatively, a great option is just a non-alcoholic line of beer from the beer company itself. For instance, I know Heineken sells a “0.0” line of beer that doesn’t have alcohol.

Or, just drink sodas and other soft drinks! Root beer, sarsaparilla, coke, black cherry, ginger ale, or whatever other soda you can think of all great beverages! You aren’t a wuss if you don’t serve alcohol.

For your sake, and your friends’ sake, there are just so many options for drinks that it would be a shame for you to choose the one option that can hurt you.

Oh, one final point about beverages is that you should put out water! Some people want water, but might feel awkward to ask for it. Just set out a pitcher with ice water, and people can take as they please.

Meals

If you want to have some kind of meal with your friends while you are watching the game, I think there is no better food to have than barbeque!

It is just the quintessential party or get together food! A great part is that barbeque tends to be a food you eat with your hands. No need to awkwardly sit and cut your food on your lap or whatever else.

Plus, it’s easy to make, tastes great, and everyone will love it! Burgers, hotdogs, and drumsticks are all great foods to have at a get together. The best part is that you don’t really have to do much different if you have a vegan or vegetarian friend!

Just buy, or have them bring, their preferred vegan or vegetarian alternative and grill it up as well! Everyone is enjoying their food together, and nobody has to feel left out.

Plus, it’s not a lot of extra work for you to accommodate others. And, that’s what this is all about isn’t it? Having a blast with your friends, and enjoying the time you spend together.
