A transient was arrested Thursday evening after he allegedly attacked a deputy after being awoken by a store owner power washing the sidewalk.
Around 11 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the 25900 block of McBean Parkway, near Granary Square, after a transient would not leave the property, said Lt. Jonathan Hoyt, with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The owner of the property was trying to power wash the sidewalk and the transient got mad because it woke him up,” Hoyt said.
The property owner attempted to ask the man to leave, but he refused, according to officials.
After the owner called Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, the homeless man allegedly attacked the deputy as soon as he arrived on scene which resulted in a deputy-involved fight, according to Hoyt.
No major injuries were reported.
The transient was arrested and booked on felony assault on a deputy, according to Hoyt.
