The Kirsch fire in Santa Clarita broke out near Newhall Avenue Saturday evening, officials said.
The brush fire in Newhall was reported at about 8:00 p.m. down a ravine near Kirsch Court and Deputy Jake Drive in Newhall, according to Michael Pittman with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“Forward progress has been stopped at 8:32,” Pittman said. “The (Sheriff’s Department) is speaking with someone about information connected to the incident.”
The fire reached about half an acre in size before being brought under control by firefighters.
No injuries have been reported as of 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
UPDATE (8:32 p.m.): Forward progress has been stopped and the fire has been held to 1/2 acre.
