The Route Fire that blocked the 5 Freeway over the weekend has reached 462 acres in size as of Monday morning.
As of Monday morning, the Route Fire remains at 63% contained and 462 acres in size, according to representatives from the Angeles National Forest Service.

The brush fire was reported at 3:53 p.m. Saturday in Castaic near the 5 Freeway and Templin Highway, according to Angeles National Forest officials.

Initial reports stated the fire to be located in the southbound side of the 5 Freeway, though it quickly jumped the freeway to the northbound as well, causing both directions of travel to be shut down for several hours.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to keep the northbound right lane of the 5 Freeway near Templin Highway closed until Monday evening, officials said.
