L.A. County Library Launches 42nd Annual Bookmark Contest In Santa Clarita

The Los Angeles County Library is kicking off its 42nd Annual Bookmark Contest for Santa Clarita students in grades K-12, to celebrate reading and creativity.

Kids and teens are encouraged to use their imagination to draw, paint or design their own bookmark, according to Library officials.

Each of the Library’s 85 locations including in the Santa Clarita Valley are set to select one winner from four categories, Kindergarten through Grade 2, Grades 3 through 5, Grades 6 through 8, and Grades 9 through 12.

The winning bookmarks from each Library are expected to be shared with the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, who are set to select Countywide winners from each category that resides in their district, according to officials.

Winners are expected to see their bookmark design professionally printed and distributed across all 85 L.A. County Library locations, according to officials.

Los Angeles County residents and Santa Clarita schools are welcomed to participate, according to officials.

“The contest highlights the wonder and importance of books and reading, and challenges parents, educators and librarians to nurture kids’ love of reading and libraries through art,” Library officials said.

To participate, kids can visit their local library to pick up an entry form, or download the form online.
