Proof Of COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate To Take Place In Los Angeles County

Later this week, Los Angeles County Public Health is slated to announce a new health officer order that would reportedly require proof of COVID-19 vaccination for indoor bars, lounges, wineries, breweries and nightclubs.

A new health order reportedly requiring vaccination proof to go into indoor bars, breweries, nightclubs and other establishments is slated to be announced this week by health officials.

“This modified health officer order aligns with the continued need to reduce risk of transmission and increase vaccination coverage,” County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer told the Board of Supervisors. “This is a reasonable path forward that will position us to be better able to break the cycle of surges.”

The health officer order is also expected to require proof of vaccination at outdoor mega-events including Chargers, Rams and Dodgers games, according to officials.

The new requirement is also set to require customers and employees at the indoor nightlife establishments to have at least one dose of vaccine by Oct. 7 and receive their second by Nov. 4, according to officials.

Ferrer stated that county health officials “believe that targeted vaccine mandates are now a very important strategy for quickly raising vaccination coverage across our county and ending the pandemic.”

L.A. County reported approximately 1,658 new COVID-19 cases as of Thursday, Sept. 15.
