3 Pounds Of Meth, Stolen Gun Located Inside Vehicle In Santa Clarita

Two suspects were arrested on a slew of felony charges Friday including being in possession of three pounds of meth after a routine traffic stop near Santa Clarita.

Around 7:30 p.m. Friday, while patrolling the 31500 block of Ridge Route Road in Castaic, deputies observed a vehicle with an expired registration, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon contacting the occupants of the vehicle, the two males were unable to provide proof of ownership for the car,” Arriaga said.

Deputies conducted a search of the car which resulted in the recovery of a stolen loaded firearm, and three large bags containing approximately 3 pounds of methamphetamine, according to Arriaga.

“One of the males was also a convicted felon,” Arriaga said.

Gregorio Viviar, 33, from Santa Ana, and Luis Nunez, 20, from Taft, were arrested on multiple charges, including transportation of a controlled substance and possession of a stolen firearm, both felonies, Arriaga added.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, with bail set at $100,000 for both suspects, according to arrest records.
