Metrolink To Close Between Lancaster And Newhall For Weekend Maintenance

The Metrolink Antelope Valley Line is set to be closed between the Lancaster and Newhall stations over the weekend for track maintenance.

From Saturday, Aug. 28 through Sunday, Aug. 29, trains with the Antelope Valley Line are set to be non-operational between Lancaster and Newhall as the track undergoes maintenance work, Metrolink officials announced.

While the Metrolink is closed in that area, buses are set to be provided for commuters riding through the area.

Riders can expect delays from 30 to 90 minutes due to traffic, according to Metrolink officials.

Two buses are scheduled to leave from the Lancaster station at the same time the Metrolink would normally leave, with one making all stops and the other driving directly from Lancaster to Newhall with no stops.

Riders can use their Metrolink tickets to ride the buses, which are set to stop at the following locations:

  • Metrolink Newhall Station: 24300 Railroad Ave., Santa Clarita, CA 91321
  • Metrolink Santa Clarita Station: 22122 Soledad Canyon Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91350
  • Metrolink Via Princessa: 19201 Via Princessa, Santa Clarita, CA 91351
  • Metrolink Vincent Grade/Acton Station: The buses will pull into the parking lot located at: 730 W. Sierra Hwy., Acton CA 93550
  • Metrolink Palmdale Station: 39000 Clock Tower Plaza Drive., Palmdale, CA 93550
  • Metrolink Lancaster Station: 44812 N. Sierra Highway, Lancaster, CA 93534

Not all buses will have the ability to carry bikes, since they are not all adapted to public transport. Buses that can carry bikes should have bike racks on their exteriors.

ADA accessible buses are set to be available within each group of scheduled buses.

Facial coverings continue to be required at stations, aboard trains, and on buses used for alternate transportation.
