Two suspects from Arizona were arrested Sunday for felony animal cruelty after they allegedly left two dogs in their vehicle while attending Six Flags Magic Mountain, causing the pets’ deaths.
Around 4 p.m. Sunday, deputies were notified of a parked vehicle with two dogs in distress in the Six Flags Magic Mountain parking lot on the 26100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Deputies made entry into the vehicle in order to render aid to the dogs,” Arriaga said.
Both dogs were transported to the Castaic Animal Care Center, however, they did not survive, according to Arriaga.
While pets are not permitted inside the park except for service animals, Six Flags Magic Mountain offers a free pet kennel for guests in the main parking lot, according to the park website. The only requirement is that owners present proof of rabies vaccination in accordance with Los Angeles County guidelines.
Brendan Alicea and Britt Moyer, both 21 and from Mesa, Arizona, who were attending the park were both arrested for felony cruelty to animals, Arriaga added.
Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail at $20,000, for both suspects, according to arrest records.
