Sheriff’s Officials Remind Santa Clarita Residents Fireworks Are Illegal

Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are reminding residents as the Fourth of July approaches that all fireworks are illegal.

Deputies are reminding all residents that fireworks are illegal, and are reminding firework enthusiasts to attend the professional show provided by the City rather than risk possible fires.

“The Fourth of July celebration comes once a year, but fireworks can be heard months before, and even months after,” said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Sheriff’s officials are advising residents “whether it’s the Fourth of July, or any other day, fireworks in the Santa Clarita Valley are illegal.”

If it explodes, rises in the air, moves about the ground, it is a firework, even if it’s labeled “Safe and Sane.”

The City of Santa Clarita is scheduled to offer its free “Spirit of America” fireworks show, but in the meantime, if you know of illegal firework activity taking place contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

“Avoid citation, and possible arrest, because if you light it, we WILL cite it,” Arriaga said.
