Public Health Reports Four New Confirmed COVID-19 Cases In Santa Clarita, 175 Across L.A. County


Five new deaths and 175 new positive cases of confirmed COVID-19 were announced by the L.A. County Department of Public Health (Public Health) Sunday, with four new confirmed cases in Santa Clarita. 

Public Health released the latest data on positive cases of COVID-19 with 175 positive tests across L.A. County and four in Santa Clarita, according to Public Health. 

The number of cases and deaths are likely to reflect reporting delays over the weekend.

L.A. County has experienced 1,238,781 positive cases and 24,171 deaths since the onset of the pandemic, with 339 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. 

Over 6,700,000 individuals have been tested across L.A. County with 17 percent of people testing positive, according to Public Health. 

As of Sunday, 27,008 cumulative cases have been reported in the Santa Clarita Valley over the past year, according to Public Health. These cases include:

  • 20,416 in the City of Santa Clarita* (+3)
  • 47 in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon
  • 847 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country (+1)
  • 3,737 in Castaic* 
  • 68 in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
  • 1 in Placerita Canyon
  • 15 in San Francisquito/Bouquet Canyon
  • 17 in unincorporated Sand Canyon
  • 132 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
  • 40 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus/Canyon Country
  • 1,157 in Stevenson Ranch
  • 337 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
  • 194 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia

*As of Monday, May 17, public health officials have recorded 2,028 cumulative cases have been reported at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center, including 1,479 at the North County Correctional Facility. Those cases are distributed between both the City of Santa Clarita and Castaic totals. In nearby Acton, there have been 479 (+1) cumulative cases, as well as 282 cases in Agua Dulce.

A total of 145 coronavirus deaths have been reported at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, with at least 291 COVID-19 deaths reported across the Santa Clarita Valley since March 2020.

COVID-19 vaccinations are available at County-run sites and many community sites without an appointment. Anyone 12 and older living or working in L.A. County can get vaccinated.
