A man was arrested in Santa Clarita over the weekend after an unregistered, loaded gun was found in his car after a routine traffic stop.
On Friday, deputies conducted a traffic stop to cite a reckless driver on the 24900 block of Railroad Avenue in Newhall, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
During routine patrol checks in Newhall, deputies noticed a vehicle being driven recklessly and nearly crashing into other vehicles, Arriaga said.
After the traffic stop, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located a concealed firearm, according to officials.
Deputies learned that the firearm was loaded, and not registered to the suspect, according to Arriaga.
Ruben Granados, 26, from Valencia, was arrested for possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm, a felony, Arriaga said.
Granados was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $35,000, according to arrest records.
