Man Arrested For Felony DUI After Injuring Person In Santa Clarita 5 Freeway Crash

A man was arrested on felony DUI charges Friday, after he allegedly caused a Santa Clarita 5 Freeway crash, injuring someone else while under the influence.

Around 8:50 p.m. Friday, a two-vehicle traffic collision occurred on the northbound 5 Freeway, south of Parker Road in Castaic, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, (CHP) Newhall Area Office.

“(The suspect) was driving a 2013 Chevy Malibu and caused a crash while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage,” Greengard said.

As a result of the crash, an individual sustained injuries, according to CHP officials.

Yosue Gutierrez, 24, from Palmdale, was arrested and charged with felony DUI, due to him injuring a person in a crash while under the influence, Greengard added.

The suspect’s exact level of intoxication is not yet available, according to CHP officials.

Gutierrez was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $176,000, according to arrest records.
