A woman claiming to be a Los Angeles Unified School District employee was arrested on felony child endangerment after allegedly driving drunk over twice the legal limit with a child passenger Saturday in Santa Clarita.
Around 2 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the 24200 block of Valencia Boulevard in Valencia regarding a possible drunk driver call for service, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“It was reported a male adult and female adult, with a 4-year-old juvenile, were attempting to leave the location,” Arriaga said.
Upon arrival, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle description, according to officials.
During the investigation, deputies contacted the woman driver and observed she had signs and symptoms similar to someone under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, according to officials.
“The deputy conducted a field sobriety test on the female and confirmed she was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage with a BAC twice the legal limit,” Arriaga said.
Giselle Garcia Castaneda, 33, from Sun Valley, who claims to be an LAUSD employee, was arrested on felony child endangerment due to the fact the child was in the vehicle at the time the suspect was driving, as well as driving under the influence and driving under the influence with a BAC over .08 percent, according to Arriaga.
Castaneda was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $100,000, according to arrest records.
The man was not arrested, and no injuries were reported to the child, according to officials.
