Medallion Hunt Returns To Santa Clarita Parks This Summer

The City of Santa Clarita invites residents this week to take part in a community treasure hunt through city parks as the Medallion Hunt returns with a lone winner set to receive a money prize.

Starting Friday, residents are invited to participate in the Medallion Hunt through city parks to find a special prize this summer.

“Residents are once again invited to embark on a quest to solve riddles, discover clues and be the first to find the medallion and the spoils that come with it,” City officials said.

To receive the first clue, participants can start by accessing the City of Santa Clarita Events page on Facebook and to expect a clue being posted every Tuesday and Friday until the medallion has been found, representatives said.

“A lone medallion – a sleek, black circle adorned with the City of Santa Clarita logo in gold – lies in hiding, waiting to be found by a lucky person in one of the City’s 35 parks,” according to officials.

All medallion hunters are expected to follow several ground rules for their safety.

“Hunters should not enter maintenance yards or buildings, climb fences or terrain or engage in any other behaviors not typically permitted at City parks,” officials said.

Participants can only hunt during daylight hours when City parks are open. The medallion is expected to be hidden in plain sight in a publicly accessible area, according to representatives.

“Clues will start out vague and become slightly more detailed the longer the medallion stays hidden,” City officials said. “The first person to find the medallion will win a $100 gift card to the business of their choice.”

City of Santa Clarita employees and their families are not eligible to compete. Also, if residents under the age of 18 end up finding the prize, the minor’s parent guardian is expected to be awarded the prize.

“If they find the medallion, they will take a selfie of the medallion where they found it and send it through the Santa Clarita Events Facebook page,” said City of Santa Clarita Communications Specialist Kevin Stauss.
