An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer pled no contest to charges in connection with a Santa Clarita road rage incident in December of 2019.
After a year-and-a-half-long legal battle, Georgeta Buruiana, resident of Santa Clarita, has pleaded no contest in the December 14, 2019 charges against her, said Ricardo Santiago, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
At the time, Buruiana was involved in an off-duty road-rage incident where she brandished a firearm at a motorist. She was arrested on felony charges of brandishing a firearm, with bail set to $20,000.
“On Dec. 14, Buruiana, an off-duty Los Angeles police officer, allegedly brandished the weapon at a motorist who made a U-turn in front of her while they drove near Rye Canyon Road and The Old Road,” Santiago said in a statement at the time of the incident.

In February 2020, Buruiana pleaded not guilty to the charges following the incident in Valencia. At the time of the crime, Buruiana was eligible for a maximum sentence of three years in county jail for the felony charge of brandishing a weapon, according to officials.
However, on June 4, 2021, a year and a half after the initial incident, Buruiana pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count each of disturbing the peace and reckless driving, according to Santiago.
She was sentenced to one year of summary probation, 100 hours of community service, 50 sessions of psychological counseling through LAPD, including 12 sessions of anger management.
