Boys And Girls Club Of Santa Clarita Receives Grant From Bank Of America

On Tuesday, officials from the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley announced that the organization had been awarded a $15,000 grant from Bank of America.

After the Boys and Girls Club saw a lack of funds for out-of-school resources due to the pandemic, Bank of America awarded the Club a $15,000 grant, according to an announcement by the Club this week.

“Bank of America’s support comes at a critical time as we work to move forward past the challenges of the last year,” said Matthew Nelson, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley. “This grant is an investment in the young people we serve. The Club is committed to continuing to provide hope and opportunity to those who need us most by supporting academic success, providing a second home, and building leaders.”

Some of last year’s reported challenges for the Boys and Girls Club include the cancellation of its annual Benefit Auction due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Funds raised from the last year’s auction were expected to end up being around $220,000 and the cancellation made out-of-school resources for youth less available, according to Club officials.

Consequently, the Bank of America grant is slated to help contribute to the activities of the Boys and Girls Club in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“As society begins to safely reopen, it will be more important than ever to provide quality summer programs and resources for kids and teens,” Raul A. Anaya, president of Bank of America Los Angeles, said. “The Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley continues to be an important partner for families and the community and we’re proud to help them make a positive impact.”

One of the main goals of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley,, is to provide fun and safe experiences in the summer for children, including outdoor and indoor games as well as educational programs, according to officials

“At the Club, youth development professionals empower kids and teens to excel in school, become good citizens and lead healthy, productive lives on their paths to great futures,” officials with the Club state.

Teen programming for the organization is reportedly available at the Newhall and Canyon Country Clubhouses, with breakfast, lunch and a snack slated to be provided daily.
