One third of Santa Clarita weekend arrests were related to driving under the influence (DUI), with the second most common arrest being for corporal injury.
From July 9 to July 11, 18 total weekend arrests were made in Santa Clarita, with 6 DUI related bookings and 5 for corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
DUIs were the most common type of arrest this weekend, although there was 73 percent decrease in DUI arrests compared to the Fourth of July weekend, according to arrest logs.
The second most common reason for arrest was for corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, according to officials from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Two of the people booked on those charges lived at the same address in Canyon Country, officials said.
A third was also from Canyon Country, while the remaining two arrested on those charges were from Palmdale and Lancaster, representatives said.
The remaining Santa Clarita weekend arrests consisted of three for possession of a controlled substance, two for battery, one for being under the influence of a controlled substance and one for being drunk, mixing drugs with alcohol, according to booking logs.
Of the people arrested, 11 were from outside of Santa Clarita and five were Santa Clarita residents. Another two were transients currently living in Santa Clarita, officials said.
