Drug, Alcohol Charges Make Up Majority Of Decreasing Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests

Drug and alcohol charges accounted for nine of the 14 arrests made this weekend in Santa Clarita with a majority of all offenders being from other cities.

From Friday through Sunday, 14 arrests were made in Santa Clarita, a decrease from 15 last weekend, with most being on drug and alcohol related charges, according to arrest records.

Weekend arrests have been decreasing since February, with this weekend’s arrest numbers dipping below last weekend’s.

However, this weekend saw one more drug and alcohol related charge compared to last weekend, which saw eight.

Drug related charges included seven for driving under the influence (DUI), one for the possession of a controlled substance, and one for being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to arrest records.

Only four of the arrests made were of residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.

Three of the arrests were felony charges. The felony charges were for carrying a loaded handgun without being the owner, possession of a controlled substance, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
