On Sunday, Santa Clarita IndyCar driver Colton Herta won a fourth victory, having completed a total of 34 races after entering his third IndyCar season, tying with his father’s four victories.
Herta tied his father in IndyCar victories on Sunday, April 25, with four wins to his name thanks to only 34 completed races.

Herta impressed many after reportedly leading 97 of Sunday’s 100 lap race, winning the IndyCar comfortably.
“Starting on the pole position, @ColtonHerta controlled the @GPSTPETE and fended off a late charge by @JosefNewgarden for the #IndyCar victory,” tweeted NBC’s official IndyCar racing account.
Reportedly, renowned NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson’s brakes ended up locking and he then collided with a tire barrier on lap 16. In contrast with Herta, Johnson reportedly finished 22nd out of 24 during Sunday’s race.

Previously, as a rookie in the 2019 season, Herta became the youngest driver to win an IndyCar race with his first-place finish at the inaugural race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
After becoming well-known as the youngest ever IndyCar race winner at age 18, Herta has since then continued his impressive record.
Herta did not, however, get the chance to defend his title at the track in the 2020 season, as it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eight IndyCar races were canceled last year in locations across the United States and Canada, as officials had to adapt to the new conditions presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the challenges, IndyCar did go forward with some races last year, including the Indy 500, which was the first time the race had ever been run not on or around Memorial Day.
With fifteen races remaining on the calendar this season, Herta can continue to make headlines and add to his already impressive racing record.
Next up is the Genesys 300 on the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, slated for May 1 at 4 p.m. Pacific Time.
