GoFundMe, Meal Train Set Up For Children After Mother Stabbed To Death In Santa Clarita

A GoFundMe and Meal Train have been set up for three children whose mother was stabbed to death in Santa Clarita early Thursday morning.

The GofundMe and Meal Train has been set up to help cover expenses for the boys and the extended family, according to Dayna Reed, the organizer for the GoFundMe.

“Please help the Dorsey, Smith and Jordan family during this difficult time,” Reed wrote. “All donations will go to the boys and any extra costs to the family will be accruing at this time.”

Michelle Dorsey was the mother of three boys who range between 9-13 years old

Back on Aug. 27, 2019, Dorsey filed for a temporary restraining order from her ex-husband as well as a legal separation in the  L.A. County Superior Court, according to court documents.

The restraining order also includes Dorsey’s three children — ages 13, 11 and 9 — in the protective order.

In the request for the restraining order, the victim indicated that she had not informed Dorsey of her filing as she was “afraid that the violence would reoccur when (she) gave notice that (she) was asking for these orders,” court documents read.

On Thursday around 5:10 a.m. Dorsey was murdered at the hands of her estranged husband and father of their three boys in her home on the 22800 block of Fir Court in Saugus.

The suspect, James Matthew Dorsey, fled the scene of the murder site and was located nearly 12 hours later, hiding in the City of Neenach, north of Castaic.

When deputies located the suspect he led Sheriff’s deputies on a brief pursuit before he crashed and barricaded himself in the vehicle for nearly six hours.

The suspect was taken into custody and is being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $1,075,000, according to court records.

He is scheduled to appear for his first court appearance on Monday, April 19.

Michelle Dorsey and the suspect had a court appearance scheduled for June 14, 2021.

“Thank you for your kindness and generosity.  Please keep their families in your prayers,” Reed added.

As of Friday afternoon, $23,000 of a 50,000 goal has been donated.

For Santa Clarita residents wanting to help the Dorsey children and the extended family can support either the Meal Train, GoFundMe or both.
