La Mesa Junior High School has been honored with a 2020-2021 Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools award for the third school year in a row.
For the third consecutive year in a row, La Mesa has been named as a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools honoree, according to William S. Hart Union School District officials.
Presented by the Flippen Group, the award was given to 325 schools nationwide for the 2020-2021 school year to recognize and celebrate schools that go the extra mile each day, according to officials.
National Showcase Schools awards intend to recognize schools that cultivate an environment where students and staff feel safe and connected, officials said.
“It is affirmation of our continued commitment to building relationships with and among students,” said Michele Kratz, principal of La Mesa Junior High. “It’s those positive relationships that have gotten us through this challenging time in education and ultimately paves the way for success academically for our students.”
National Showcase Schools are chosen annually through a rigorous selection process based on key performance indicators like analyzing campus data as well as surveying students and staff.
This year’s selection process began with the evaluation of 555 schools and yielded an award for La Mesa alongside 325 nationwide campuses.
“Unsung heroes who produce exemplary outcomes in schools and pave the way for other schools to follow need and deserve recognition for a job well done,” reads a statement from the Flippen Group.
