Congressman Garcia Calls For State to Halt ‘Idiotic Policies’ To Release Violent Felons

On Monday, Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita is calling for the State of California to halt their “idiotic policies” which would release approximately 63,000 felons from prison into the streets.

Garcia’s statement comes on the heels of California politicians wanting to release “dangerous” felons to allow for “safer prisons,” according to officials with Garcia’s Office.

“Just when you think California couldn’t enact more idiotic policies, the politicians in Sacramento are now putting children and families in danger by releasing tens of thousands of violent criminals into our communities,” Garcia said. “The state must immediately put a stop to this reckless plan.”

Reports surfaced over the weekend that the state plans to release 63,000 violent felons in order to create “safer prisons,” Garcia said.

“Christy Smith has spent the last several weeks aligning herself with the far-left progressives, even supporting the defunding of the L.A. Police Department last fall, but now she’s curiously silent as her pals in Sacramento prepare to release 63,000 violent criminals into California communities,” Garcia said, referring to former Assemblymember Christy Smith, who previously announced her intent to run for California’s 25th District Congressional seat in 2022.

Garcia spent much of the past weekend attending a police appreciation event in Lancaster, once again showing his commitment to supporting local law enforcement officers.
