Nearly 2,000 Without Power In Valencia Power Outage

Approximately 1,900 customers with Southern California Edison (SCE) were without power Saturday morning as a result of a Valencia power outage.

As of 10:10 a.m. Saturday, power outages began being reported in the Valencia area near Valencia Valley Elementary and Valencia Central Valley Park.

After receiving those reports, SCE officials confirmed that an estimated 1,918 of their customers had been affected by the power outage, according to their outage center.

The cause of the Valencia outage is yet to be determined and no approximate time of restoration has been provided at this time.

A minor power outage in the Newhall area was also reported at approximately 9:16 a.m. Saturday morning, affecting 25 customers.

The cause of the outage has been reported by SCE officials as “upgrading equipment” and is set to be restored by 5 p.m. Saturday.

As of 11:23 a.m. Saturday, the Santa Clarita Valley is not impacted by a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), which would be an intentional, temporary power shutoff in cases of high wildfire risk.
