Intoxicated Woman Arrested For Shooting Bullet At Park After Verbal Argument With Husband

An intoxicated Valencia woman was arrested Saturday after she allegedly fired a bullet at a nearby park after being upset with her husband for attempting to properly unload her weapon.

Around 7 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the 25500 block of Alicante Drive in Valencia regarding a family disturbance and possible illegal shooting call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies learned that during a verbal argument, (the suspect) was upset her husband was unloading a firearm belonging to her,” Arriaga said.

Following the argument, the suspect took the firearm from her husband and entered their garage in order to reload the weapon, according to officials.

“While inside the garage, the suspect discharged one round towards a nearby park,” Arriaga said.

While speaking with the suspect, deputies observed signs similar to someone under the influence of alcohol.

Kimberly Whitaker, 55, from Valencia, was arrested for felony gross negligent discharge of a firearm, Arriaga added.

Whitaker was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $35,000, according to arrest records.

No injuries were reported. The investigation is still ongoing.
