A Canyon Country assault suspect was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly hit his stepson during a verbal altercation.
On Tuesday around 4 p.m., deputies responded to the 19100 block of Nadal Street in Canyon Country regarding a family disturbance call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect was involved in a verbal altercation with his wife, Arriaga said.
During the verbal argument, the suspect’s stepson attempted to intervene to which the suspect then began to physically assault the victim, according to Arriaga.
“The victim yelled for his mother to call for law enforcement personnel during the altercation,” Arriaga said.
The victim sustained a minor injury and was treated on scene by medical personnel.
Anthony Collins, 34, from Canyon Country, was arrested for felony assault likely to produce great bodily injury, Arriaga added.
Collins was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $30,000, according to arrest records.
