Former Hart Baseball Player Jesse Posey Makes Netflix Debut In ‘Selena: The Series’

Former Hart High School baseball player Jesse Posey made his debut on Netflix as a member of the cast of their new show ‘Selena: The Series’.

The show follows the tragic life of singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, known simply as Selena, who experienced a meteoric rise to fame in the early 1990s before her life was cut short at 23 years old.

Posey plays the role of Chris Pérez, who joined Selena’s band, Selena y Los Dinos, as their lead guitarist in 1989 and went on to marry the singer in 1992.

“Selena’s personal life has made an impact on how I perceive mine. Her love for her family, husband, fans, and her other passions, was one of a kind,” said Posey in March when actors from the series each reflected on the anniversary of Selena’s death. “She knew how to connect with her audience. She made her fans feel special and people knew her interactions with them were genuine. She was born an icon but always remained humble.”

The part is Posey’s first recurring role in a series, his previous experience includes several shorts and a pair of television appearances.

However, the acting chops may run in the family, as older brother Tyler Posey has been acting since the early 2000’s and is best known for his starring role in the MTV series ‘Teen Wolf’. 

Their father John Posey is also a writer, director and actor who has worked on a variety of projects in the entertainment industry since 1989, including his one-man show ‘Father, Son & Holy Coach’, according to IMDB.

Before the start of his acting career, Jesse Posey was a solid pitcher for the Hart Baseball team and continued to play after high school for Hancock College and College of the Canyons.

With his playing days behind him and a blossoming new career ahead, the future will tell what new doors may be opened for Posey with his appearance on the world’s largest streaming service.

‘Selena: The Series debuted Friday, Dec. 10 with all ten episodes immediately available.
