UPDATE: No Explosive Found After Reported Canyon Country Bomb Threat

No explosive devices were found after a reported Canyon Country bomb threat Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

UPDATE: 2:45 p.m. — After the shopping center was cleared for nearly two hours for a search of the area, no explosive device was found, according to Marvin Lim, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“Sheriff’s cleared the building and found no bomb,” Lim said.

The area is being reopened to traffic, and there is no further danger to the public.

Original Story: Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of a bomb threat in the 16400 block of De Lone Street in Canyon Country at Bergie’s, said Franklin Lopez, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Suspicious activity is currently being investigated near the 16400 block of Delone Street in Canyon Country, said officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on Twitter.

The building has been evacuated, and firefighters are staging in the area while Sheriff’s deputies investigate if the threat is credible or not, according to Fire officials.

The Department of Homeland Security is also responding to the scene, according to Lopez.
