Man Arrested After Alleged Assault At Knifepoint In Valencia

A man was arrested Monday evening following an alleged assault involving a knife in front of the Valencia Ralphs grocery store in Granary Square.

At around 5:45 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the Ralphs on the 25900 block of McBean Parkway in Valencia regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call.

“Upon arrival, deputies learned while the victim was seated on a bench in front of the location, the suspect approached the victim and became verbally aggressive,” said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Officials reported that the man had been arguing with the victim before brandishing a knife. When the victim attempted to call for law enforcement personnel, the suspect allegedly hit the phone out of the victim’s hand and physically assaulted him, according to Arriaga.

The victim was able to regain access to his phone and contact law enforcement.

Shortly after deputies arrived on scene, they conducted a search of the area and detained a man matching the suspect description, according to Arriaga.

The victim positively identified the man, who was then taken into custody as the suspect responsible for the assault.

Larselle Estes, 59, was arrested for felony robbery and misdemeanor vandalism.
