Drug, Alcohol-Related Crimes Dominate Santa Clarita Weekend Arrest Records

About 85 percent of Santa Clarita Valley weekend arrests were drug- and alcohol-related.

The majority of arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley over the weekend were related to drug- and alcohol-related crimes, according to arrest logs from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Out of the 14 recorded arrests that took place between Friday, Dec. 11, and Sunday, Dec. 13, 12 were related to drugs and/or alcohol.

At least eight arrests were due to driving under the influence, and were handled by both the LASD and the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area office.

The few non-intoxicant-related crimes recorded were for carrying a loaded firearm in one’s person or in their vehicle in a public place, and for corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

Most of those people arrested in the Santa Clarita Valley over the weekend hailed from outside of the area, including Tehachipi, Bakersfield, and San Fernando.

This week’s arrests remained low in number after a temporary hike over the Thanksgiving holiday.
