17 Christmas Turkeys Donated To SCGrocery By SCV Sheriff Station, Viking Organization

This month, both the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and the Viking Charities organization helped to donate 17 fresh Christmas turkeys to Santa Clarita Grocery.

“This is what makes the season of giving real,” founder of Santa Clarita Grocery Bradley Grose said. “Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all our friends, partners and most of all our guests who we cherish. We’re stronger together.”

SCGrocery operates as an all-volunteer nonprofit serving a week’s worth of groceries and personal care items including fresh milk, eggs, produce, canned goods, dried goods, meat, deli and breads, according to their website.

The Viking Charities organization, who helped donate the turkeys, is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization founded in 1950.

“Since its inception, the Vikings have raised more than five million dollars for children’s causes and in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Members and Volunteers, each Christmas put together and distribute approximately 1,500 food baskets to needy families,” officials with Vikings state.

The turkey donation by Vikings and the Sheriff’s Station followed SCGrocery’s toy drive giveaway on Main Street for families in need on Dec. 18, which included live holiday performances and a Santa Claus float.

“We started this when we realized there were a lot of families in need and after the pandemic that number went up by ten times,” Grose said during the toy giveaway.

SCGrocery has received a significant amount of support this holiday season, including a $3,000 grant awarded to them by Santa Clarita Valley’s local Albertsons and their affiliated supermarkets.
