What Does 2022 Look Like For The Dodgers?

It’s been a good few years for the Dodgers. Though the team have only laid claim to one World Series title, they’re continually hovering near to the top. Currently, the Dodgers are never too far from the best of the best. With another year done and dusted, we thought it’d be a good idea to look ahead and ask: just what does 2022 look like for the Dodgers?

2022 World Series?

The Dodgers missed an opportunity to win the World Series this year. The Braves did well, sure, but everything was in place for the Dodgers. They just couldn’t do it. Will they go one better next season and pick up their second title in three years? They’ve arguably been the best baseball team of the past five years, so they’ll feel confident and will surely start the season as clear favorites. Still, they may lose several players to free agency. If they can’t replace those players, it may be worthwhile to use a free bet offer to back an outsider favorite, such as the New York Yankees. It all depends on LA’s off-season deals. If they fall short, then next season may be closer than many people believe.

The End of The Jansen Era?

There are currently eleven Dodger players who are out of contract. How many of them return for spring training remains to be seen. The biggest free-agent decision facing the Dodgers comes in the shape of Kenley Jansen. He’s been with the Dodgers since 2010, and though he did have a couple of under-par years, he has generally delivered the goods when called upon. You don’t become a three-time All-Star by throwing duds, after all. He had a great 2021, too, which will increase Dodgers’ interest in re-signing Curaçaoan. But it’ll surely have to be on a cheaper contract than the $80 million contract they gave in 2016. However, if he does leave, it will be the end of an era.

Recovering From 2021

There’s no shame coming second in the NLCS, especially if the team that defeats you wins the World Series. However, if there’s one team that could feel shame, it’s the 2021 Dodgers. They had far and away the most expensive team in the country, with enough stars to fill a galaxy. Though there are no guarantees of success in baseball, if there was a time for a post-season inquest, it’s now. Next year’s success might just depend on the organization’s ability to identify just what went wrong — and to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
