Santa Clarita traffic was temporarily blocked for an unknown duration after a vehicle drove off the 5 Freeway overpass onto Lake Hughes Road Saturday afternoon.
Around 12 p.m. Saturday, emergency responders received reports of a traffic collision on Lake Hughes Road just below the 5 Freeway in Castaic, according to Miguel Ornelas, a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“One vehicle drove off of the freeway,” Ornelas said.
The vehicle, a red truck, allegedly hit a pillar before plunging off the side of the 5 Freeway onto Lake Hughes Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Incident Logs.
Lake Hughes Road traffic was temporarily blocked for an unknown duration as firefighters worked to clear the debris from the crash, according to CHP.
The driver walked away from the crash and no transports were needed, according to Ornelas.
