Three Grand Theft Suspects Arrested After Stealing From Santa Clarita Business

Three grand theft suspects were arrested in Hesperia Wednesday for stealing equipment from a business in Santa Clarita earlier this month.

On Saturday, Sept. 18, deputies received reports of grand theft from an office building on the 27400 block of Avenue Scott in Valencia, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The three men had allegedly stolen $400 worth of equipment and fled the location prior to deputy arrival.

“When an incident of grand theft was reported out of a business in Santa Clarita, deputies with the Crime Impact Team, along with detectives from our Burglary and Fraud Team, went quickly to work to locate the suspects,” Arriaga said.

The Fraud and Burglary Team opened an investigation into the three suspects and surveillance footage later placed them at a residence in Hesperia, according to Arriaga.

With the help of the Hesperia Police Department, a search warrant was served at the residence on the 10700 block of 5th Avenue in Hesperia where the three suspects were located and arrested for grand theft on Wednesday, according to deputies.

“A search of the property resulted in the recovery of a stolen motorcycle from an unrelated report,” Arriaga said. “As for the stolen items, deputies conducted a follow up investigation and were able to locate some of the items at a pawn shop.”

42-year-old Antelmo Vargas Moreno, 56-year-old Benjamin Venegas and 26-year-old Alfredo Venegas, all from Hesperia, were arrested on grand theft charges, a felony, according to arrest logs.

The three suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station where two had a bail set at $20,000 and one had a bail set at $0.

The two suspects with a $20,000 bail had outstanding warrants, but further information on these warrants remain unavailable to the public as of Thursday, according to Arriaga.

“Our teams will continue to work together and take the necessary steps needed to apprehend more outstanding suspects,” Arriaga said.
