Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests Shoot Back Up Over Halloween Weekend


Arrest logs during Halloween weekend in the Santa Clarita Valley saw a steep increase to 19 bookings, contrasting with last weekend’s total of five reported by law enforcement officials.

An increase from five arrests last weekend to a total of 19 on this Halloween weekend was reported in Santa Clarita by deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office.

From Friday, Oct. 29, to Sunday, Oct. 31, law enforcement officials reported six total felonies and 13 misdemeanors.

Eight counts of DUI were reported this weekend, although none were charged as felonies, according to booking logs.

Certain notable felony arrests this weekend include burglary, the public discharging of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and taking a vehicle without owner’s consent, according to officials.

One notable misdemeanor arrest involved the assault of an elder, according to arrest logs.

Nine of the reported 19 arrests this weekend were of individuals from addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, according to booking logs.
