A Santa Clarita shooting suspect was arrested Monday after he was involved in a traffic collision in Lancaster.
Around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to the 24800 block of Parchman Avenue in Newhall regarding an assault with a deadly weapon and gunshot victim call for service, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“It was reported a male adult had been shot by his girlfriend’s ex-husband,” Arriaga said.
The suspect had fled the location prior to deputies arrival, according to Sheriff’s officials. .
When deputies and paramedics arrived on scene they rendered aid to the victim who was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

During investigation, deputies learned that while the victim and his girlfriend were speaking in her car, the suspect approached them and ordered the victim to exit the vehicle while displaying a firearm,” Arriaga said. “A brief struggle ensued over the firearm between the suspect and the victim in which the victim was shot.”
“The suspect was arrested on Monday by deputies with the Lancaster Station during a traffic collision the suspect was involved in,” Arriaga said. “Deputies discovered he was a wanted person and arrested him,” Arriaga said.
Carlos Moreno Gonzalez, 31, from Rosamond, was arrested on a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, Arriaga added.
Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.
