Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests Rise Compared To Previous Weekend


This weekend, law enforcement officials in the Santa Clarita Valley saw an increase in both total arrests and drug and alcohol-related offenses.

From Friday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 12, an increase in total arrests and a slight increase in drug and alcohol-related offenses was recorded by Santa Clarita law enforcement officials.

This weekend had 25 total arrests, which was five more than Labor Day, last weekend, according to arrest logs.

Booking logs indicate that about 44 percent of this weekend’s arrests were drug and alcohol-related, compared to Labor Day weekend’s total of 50 percent.

Logs indicate that of 11 drug and alcohol-related arrests, eight of which were for misdemeanor driving-under-the-influence (DUI) and one of which was listed as a felony DUI causing injury.

A few notable arrest offenses included two for battery of a peace officer, one for a non-student refusing to leave campus, four firearm-related arrests and two arrests relating to fraud.

Additionally, arrest logs indicated two arrests for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

16 out of the weekend’s total of 25 arrests involved suspects with addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, including some as far away as San Diego and Stockton.
