Santa Clarita Known Convicted Felon Found In Possession Of Rifles, Narcotics

A known convicted felon was arrested during a crime suppression operation led by the Santa Clarita Juvenile Intervention Team (J-Team) deputies resulting in multiple firearms, ammunition and narcotics being recovered.   

J-team deputies first contacted a man during a traffic stop in Canyon Country, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. 

“As they approached the male driver, they detected a strong odor of marijuana and identified the male from previous contacts in which he was previously found in possession of a large amount of narcotics,” Arriaga said. 

As the suspect exited the vehicle, deputies observed a high-capacity magazine in the door of his vehicle. 

“A search of the car resulted in the recovery of a baggie of methamphetamine,” Arriaga said. “J-Team deputies didn’t stop there. They issued a search warrant at his home and recovered several rifles and shotguns.” 

The suspect was confirmed to be a previously convicted felon, prohibited from possessing any firearms. 

He was ultimately arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, among other felony and misdemeanor charges, Arriaga added. 

The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail.
