Multiple Hart High School Students Suspended After ‘Trashing’ Bathroom For Latest TikTok Trend

Multiple students have been suspended from Hart High School Monday after they allegedly “trashed” Hart High School’s bathroom after being encouraged by a nationwide TikTok trend.

On Monday, multiple students were suspended after trashing the boys’ bathroom at Hart High school, said Jason d’Autremont, the principal of Hart, in an email to parents.

“From what we understand, this may be part of a larger problem nationwide. What I am referring to is a social media challenge to ‘trash’ school bathrooms,” d’Autremont said. “This has included on our campus, painting walls, destroying soap dispensers, bringing fire extinguishers in, and so on.”

The School Bathroom Challenge, also known as the “Devious Lick,” encourages video creators to steal or damage items in school bathrooms, actions which can lead to criminal charges.

D’Autremont is urging parents to speak with their students, mainly those using the boys’ restrooms, about how dangerous the trend is, how much money and time it is costing the District and that students will get suspended when caught.

“Just yesterday, we had to suspend multiple students because of this,” he said.

This also leads into the conversation from last week, about talking to students about what is appropriate to do or items to bring to school, according to school officials.

“This is a great opportunity for parents to talk to their kids about making good decisions,” said Dave Caldwell, spokesperson for the William S. Hart District.

Last week, four Hart High students were taken into custody by law enforcement after a firearm was discovered on campus.

“Administrators will be going around to classrooms this week talking to all students about school rules and protocols,” d’Autremont said. “Please follow up with them at home.”
