Man ‘Tearfully’ Thanks Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Deputy For The Arrest That Saved His Life

On Wednesday, a man came into the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station to thank the deputy that arrested him and subsequently saved his life from a possible fentanyl overdose.

The 30-year-old man described how he had been ready to take fentanyl in his parked car behind a Canyon Country plaza last week when a deputy happened to be patrolling the area.

The deputy made contact with the man and arrested him on narcotic charges, “telling him he would be doing a disservice to him if he didn’t.”

As a result of the arrest, he returned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Wednesday and “tearfully” thanked the deputy for arresting him and saving his life that night.

“The man feels he would have succumbed to an overdose that night if the deputy had not intervened. Today, he came in to say ‘thank you,’” Sheriff’s officials said.

During the arrest, the deputy was able to inform the man the dangers of Fentanyl and explained how a San Diego deputy overdosed on the drug just by being too close to the deadly substance, Sheriff’s officials said.
