A man was arrested last Thursday on felony elder abuse charges after allegedly physically assaulting his 77-year-old mother in Santa Clarita.
Last Thursday, deputies received reports of a family disturbance at a residence on the 28300 block of Sand Canyon Road in Canyon Country, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“It was reported that the victim was physically assaulted by her son,” Arriaga said.
When deputies arrived on scene, they learned that the 77-year-old victim was repeatedly assaulted by her son before she fled the area with minor injuries.
“The victim was able to get away from the suspect without further incident until law enforcement personnel arrived,” Arriaga said.
The woman was evaluated by medical personnel on scene and was able to walk away from the incident without being transported to the hospital, according to Arriaga.
Alexis Torres, 20, the victim’s son, was arrested at the Canyon Country residence without incident and booked for felony elder abuse.
The extent of the abuse and any further details have not been made available to the public as of Tuesday.
Torres was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest logs.
