GoFundMe Set Up For Family Of 15-Year-Old Santa Clarita Girl Hit By Car

The family of a 15-year-old Santa Clarita girl hit by a car last week has set up a fundraiser to help cover her medical costs.

The GoFundMe page was set up by Harley Anne Laub’s family Sunday, days after she was struck by a car in Santa Clarita, causing traumatic injuries.

“Harley Anne Laub is an adventurous, bright, sweet and a thoughtful high school student from Santa Clarita, CA,” reads the GoFundMe. “She is a strong-willed young lady who loves watersports, camping, biking, and her family & friends.”

At around 8 p.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision on Sierra Highway and Dockweiler Drive in Newhall, according to officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Laub had been struck by a vehicle as she was riding a scooter, officials said.
A deputy from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station applied a tourniquet at the scene, helping stabilize Laub before she was sent to the hospital.

“Harley suffered a major injury in her right lower leg including two breaks and a severed artery,” said John Estrada, a member of Laub’s extended family. “Doctors are trying to save the limb with multiple surgeries, which will include bone and skin grafts among other procedures.”
According to Estrada, the Golden Valley High School student and JV soccer player also has one break and two fractures in her pelvis, two collapsed lungs and multiple fractures in her ribs and has undergone about 12 hours of surgery so far.
“As expected, the family is taking it day by day,” Estrada said. “They are so grateful for the first responders and all of the medical professionals at Henry Mayo Hospital & Children’s Hospital L.A. They would also like to thank their extended family and friends for all the love and support they have given.”
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.

As of Monday, the GoFundMe has raised over $8,000 of its $10,000 goal. To donate, click here.
